Restoration of the façade: masonry safety upgrading and partial revision of plasters

The aim of this urgent intervention on the façade was the reconstruction of a proper and efficient protective coat of the wall coverings. The first procedures affected the removal of heavily deteriorated elements and portions endangering the support structures that could not be restored, replacing them with new transpiring coats made of natural lime.
In parallel with the restoration and preservation of the façade,  the main causes of the static instability were removed by means of consolidation procedures followed by cobbling of coverings and chaining of the façade arch. Finally, irregular loads compromising the side vaults were corrected and the wooden covering was replaced.
