Reconnection of Conca di Viarenna to the Darsena (the old Milan harbour): first re-opening of the hidden Navigli

The project plans to reopen the short stretch of Naviglio of Via Vallone in order to reconnect Conca di Viarenna to the Darsena and rediscover the small lake of via Olocati - the basin in front of the Conca –which will be equipped as a small harbour in service of the Cathedrals and of the Roman Arena parks.

Water supply will take place from idle wells located in the surroundings, or by means of residual waters used for heating production. Water will allow the functioning of the Conca and will feed the Naviglio of Pavia, increasing its flow rate. The underpass located in Viale Gabriele D'Annunzio would be a safe alternative route for crossing the avenue when walking or cycling. The basin would return to its original function: a small lake in service of the Cathedrals, also facilitating the access to the Diocesan Museum and to San Lorenzo’s Cathedral.
