Restorations of the Church of St. Francesca Romana

Portions of roofings and of rainwater drainage system, as well as window gaskets, were reconstructed in order to avoid seepages. Works also interested humidity control in the lower parts of the walls and on frescoed surfaces where particularly damaged parts were reinforced.
Marble surfaces (such as balustrades, side altars and the Main Altar) were cleaned up by removing old ruined seals that were resealed by means of deep injections of a mixture of coloured earths. After demolishing the existing floor - partially laid on land and partially on a reinforced concrete support -, the soil was digged for about 60 cm and a crawlspace floor was rebuilt.
Before replacing the old heating system with a new radiant one, some underpinnings were necessary. A new cotto tile floor was laid: tiles had a different pattern, but same dimensions, shape and colour of those found under a confessional that was never moved before. Wooden artworks, such as the entrance compass, two confessionals and the pews, were restored as well.
