Preservation and restoration works on roofs and façades, including rising damp removal, started in 1998, giving priority to areas showing serious problems caused by infiltration of rainwater and rising damp (transepts, apse, northern roofs). The works continued in other areas, and, at the same time, restoration of the vestments was started. The most interesting aspect of the intervention involved the decorated surfaces, almost hidden due to the presence of different types of degradation. The conservative interventions allowed an almost complete recovery of all decorated surfaces. All phases of the works were carefully documented by both photos and graphs (mapping the state of preservation and restoration of façades, etc..).
