The first project for renovation and restoration of the architectural complex was prepared in 1983. Since dealing with a single long contract for the whole duration of the works was too demanding for the Municipality Administration, the operations were divided into four lots.
Works relating to each single lot were carried out ensuring, as far as possible, the practicality of the affected areas at the end of each contract. The aim of this procedure was to allow the Municipality Administration to evaluate the works and the actions taken with reference to the budget, and gradually using the restored areas.
