Preservation and restoration of roofs and façades

The restoration of the exteriors of the church were preceded by evaluations aiming to identify the origin of the degradation both on the external walls and, sporadically, on the vaults and on the perimeter walls of the lateral chapels and of the transept. The infiltration of rainwater from the roofs, and phenomena of damp due to foundations and walls being in contact with wet soil and to a bad drainage system, threatened the preservation of the exterior and interior masonry walls and of the artworks safeguarded in the church. The intervention of recovery and restoration of roofs, along with remediation from rising damp preceded the restoration of all walls.
