Within the area of the Abbey in Viboldone, in addition to the Abbey of Saints Pietro and Paolo (twelfth and fourteenth centuries) and the monastery built in the mid 60’s designed by the architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni, there is a building called the Ancient House or the House of the Prior. Connected with the Abbey through a three-span portico, it acts as a guest house for the monastery. The building has a rectangular plan and it consists of four levels with conference rooms on the ground floor, library and facilities on the first floor,  bedrooms and bathrooms on the attic, heating systems in the basement (which also serve the Abbey) as well as other service rooms.
Some parts of the building date back to the twelfth century (such as the library), but the current state dates back to ‘500, as well as the frescoes. Among these ones, we have to mention the "Music Room" and "The Studiolo of the Prior," in addition to many rooms decorated in the upper part of the walls. On the occasion of the 2000 Jubilee, a major renovation and restoration of the House of the Prior was launched involving the whole building (works carried out from 1998 to 1999).
