Remediation of the plaster and restoration of the frescoes

Taking into consideration that the façade of the Oratory of Saint Mary of the Passion is a modern work of Arch. Adolfo Zacchi, at the time architect of the Venerable factory of the Duomo Cathedral, who, while working on it, also closed three  doors placed in the end of the wall between the door and the large window top, we tried to understand - from what we could see - the story of the evolution of this small place worship.
We know from the records of the Chapter of the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio that, during the restoration of the nineteenth century, the visibility of a courtyard house has been reopened, taking down a house that  that was leaning on the  wing walls of the Atrium of Ansperto,  where nowadays  there is the access gate  to the oratory itself.
We own Arch. Zacchi’s projects, that in the 30s of last century redesigned in a fifteenth century appearance both the porch and the house that stands in the square frieze. How, when and why architectural decorations had been repurposed to the side walls - why signs are engraved in fresh plaster that refer to the supposed presence of windows - why the left wall shows a not perfect alignment - these and other questions have accompanied this campaign of restoration.
