The crypt of the Church of San Primo was found behind the State Archives of Milan revealing a complex and fascinating burial system.
After the excavation was completed, immediate consolidation procedures as well as recovery interventions on the support structures and plasters -some of them painted with attractive decorations – were implemented. Being an underground construction, much attention was also paid to the constant application of biocides to eliminate and to prevent the formation of mosses and algae. A particular attention was paid also to the elimination of sources of moisture caused both by precipitations and by rising damp in order to preserve the old structures as much as possible. These operations helped to maintain such a peculiar heritage in a good condition until now.
