Conservative and pictorial restoration

The rooms covered by restoration are included in the main wing of a large architectural complex, the so-called "Villa's House" in San Pietro all’Olmo di Cornaredo (MI), originally, and up to 1542, an Augustinian monastery. The frescoes date back to this period (that is to say, between the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century), walls being decorated and framed with big bands with floral motifs and faux marble columns. The paintings were hidden by numerous overlapping and pale paintwork of a different nature: some examination attempts made in the past had revealed portions of the painting that suggested the existence of murals over much of the surface yet to be analyzed. To properly set the restoration, especially the complex intervention of de pale and the subsequent cleaning phase, it was useful to undertake a study of the different materials present. A complete diagnostic survey, together with several samples taken in situ and testing of certain materials, has provided the necessary information for the study of a methodology of intervention in the full respect of the original delicate matter.
To complete the various phases, a careful and respectful pictorial reintegration allowed the reconstruction of colors in the collection, re-evaluating and restoring the integrity of the work.
