Preservation of interior paintings and dome

Before undergoing restoration,  the decorations of the Blessed Shrine located above the Lower Shrine of Corbetta, were totally  darkened by a brown coating which had nothing to do with the original materials. Chemical tests revealed that it consisted of a protein substance that had been subjected to alterations over the years. A delicate cleaning and the accurate removal of sediments brought back the ancient brightness  of the decorations which have their  cornerstone in the magnificent frescoed dome.
